Second Stage World Premieres

Composers Now presents world premieres by its 2027 Second Stage Commission awardees Abby Harris, Maria Isabel Emiliano and Isabelle Tseng. Supported by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation, the program reflects a year of mentorship, artistic exploration and creative expansion.

New York City–based composer and pianist Abby Harris, mentored by Levy Lorenzo, has had her music presented by the International Contemporary Ensemble and the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus. Dominican composer Maria Isabel Emiliano, mentored by David Virelles, explores Latin sound worlds through Dominican folkloric traditions, Cuban influences and contemporary techniques. Award-winning composer Isabelle Tseng, mentored by Du Yun, creates performer-driven music that bridges cultures, with recent commissions from violinist Jennifer Koh and the Princeton Opera Company.
